New cruises

Bumped into these Dolphins out on the waters over the weekend.  Great to see that they are back in Kinsale bay again.  We are booked out for Friday and Saturday of this weekend, and July is filling up fast.  We are currently revamping our website, so keep an eye out for our new charter cruises which include one specifically for a hen party and also one to help you chill out before of after your wedding day.

Birthday Party

We had a group of people out on a charter last Sunday for a birthday party.  The weather was absolutely amazing, lots of activity out on the water and everyone had a great time.  So much so that they have rebooked again for August.  Kinsale is so beautiful from the sea, so much wildlife activity, it's incredible.  Why not get a group together and get out on the water and see for yourself.  Its guaranteed to be an experience you will not forget.

Its Sovereign week in Kinsale this week 22nd-25th June, so there is loads of sail boats out on the water and plenty of activity going on around Kinsale.  Let's keep our fingers crossed for good weather.

Dolphins in the Mist

After some routine maintenance in East Ferry I took a window of opportunity in what has been a bad spell of weather to bring the Ocean Ranger back to Kinsale. While Tuesday's weather was better than the surrounding days there was an eeriness and a feeling of being watched as we ploughed through the dense fog. So it was no surprise - although I must admit my heart skipped a beat - when a large black seal apeared beside the boat just off the Ling Rocks. We were rewarded with further sightings of our abundance of wildlife when a large pod of Dolphins appeared through the mist just south of the Sovereign Islands. To see them playfully diving through the waves and the fog really brightened up the journey...it was just a pity I'd left the camera at home!

Don't Try This at Home!

Check out this video footage on You Tube ... you wouldn't want to try this yourself and we certainly wouldn't be taking charters out in seas like this... but it's quite breathtaking to watch all the same!!
We took the Ocean Ranger out for rough weather sea trials yesterday in force 8 winds and 4-5 metre high seas as part of the ongoing stringent safety tests we carry out on a regular basis, to ensure the safety and comfort of all our passengers.
Rest assured when you book a charter for your special occasion you'll have a great time in much calmer waters!

A New Year has arrived!

Now that we have that long month of January behind us, we can look forward to a new year; hopefully a year filled with bright, dry spring days and a long warm summer! Perfect weather for booking a trip with friends or work collegues, or for that special occasion.
I was speaking to an experienced Kinsale fisherman at the weekend who had spotted a pod of around 30 whales about 10 miles south of the Old Head of Kinsale, which is an encouraging sign for a good year ahead.
So if you fancy doing something a little different and a little bit special, we're now taking bookings for Charters from 1st March 2011. Just drop us an email and we will tell you what' dated are available.

Dolphin Sighting off the Old Head of Kinsale

Img_2032_2

On a trip out around the Old Head of Kinsale on Sunday, my niece, Niamh, managed to snap this brilliant shot of a dolphin jumping clean out of the water. We were just by the Holeopen Bay caves, when we spotted a group of them. They were all very playful that day. To all of you out there who have a trip booked soon... I hope you will be as lucky to see these wonderful creatures at play!

Cork Week

All of you interested in the nautical things in life, must surely be looking forward to Cork Week which kicks off tomorrow. If you want to see some of the action and take in the magnificent coastal scenery and wildlife along the way, why not book the Ocean Ranger and make your trip out on the water extra special!

Kinsale Clipper Festival 2nd-7th July

Don’t forget the Kinsale Clipper Festival starts on Friday 2nd July. The fleet of Clipper Round the World Yachts, are expected to arrive in Kinsale during Friday and Saturday. They will be there until their departure on Wednesday. Kinsale is the first port of call in Europe on this final leg of the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race. Good luck to the Irish boat ‘Cork’.

The Ocean Ranger will be used for Corporate entertainment, and by film crews for the event. If you wish to get out on the water during the festival, why not book a Kinsale Cruise Charter and see these magnificent yachts from a totally different perspective!
